Hello
I hope this finds everyone doing well! Today I want to share with you three herbs that are helpful to just about anyone. These are three plants that I consume on a regular bases because of the vast array of benefits they offer the body. Consuming plant medicine can be as easy as making an infusion or even just eating the actual plant or it can be a little more complex like preparing a tincture or elixir and consuming them that way. If you are new to plant medicine and looking to learn more, click here to download our FREE Herbal Guide. It covers 25 different plants and 6 different preparations. But for now, lets get into these three wonderful plant allies.
Our first plant in Stinging Nettle or Urtica dioica of the Urticaceae Family. This wonderful plant is a full body tonic, rich in silica and sulfur helping hair grow in strong and shinny. High in chlorophyll, iron, and vitamin C, it gives the body lasting energy, rebuilds the adrenals and flushes the kidneys, expels gravel from the bladder, and increases the flow of urine. It has been shown to reverses adult onset diabetes and is a mood elevator. I drink this herb almost daily as a tisane or an infusion. If you live in an area where it grows wild, they are delicious sautéd just like spinach would be. Be careful as they are called stinging nettle for a reason. Harvesting young plants are a safer way to avoid getting stung or use gloves.
Next up is Red Clover or Trifolium pratense of Fabaceae Family… isn’t it just gorgeous? This plant is known to prevent breast, prostate, and stomach cancer. It strengthens the immune and nervous systems. It’s good for lactation, high in minerals, improves skin issues such as acne, helper to the lymphatic system, supports the lungs and breathing and is also an alterative (which means it supports the detoxification process.) I enjoy this plant regularly as a tisane or an infusion. It pares nicely with nettle and I usually make a blend out of the two.
Lastly is the beautiful and sweet smelling Tulsi or Ocimum tenuiflorum of the Lamiaceae Family. Also widely known as Holy Basil. · This plant is an adaptogen, which mean it promotes homeostasis in the body. It’s an anti-inflammatory, supports the respiratory system and is a cerebral stimulant. When taken over long periods of time it is known to assist with asthma and also helps regulate blood sugar levels. I enjoy this plant usually on a daily basis as a tisane. It is a delightful beverage hot or cold. I have a large bush outside my front door and absolutely adore the scent it lets off.
I hope you are able to gain some plant knowledge from this post and will start adding these magnificent plants into your life. Plant medicine is truly a gift of mother earth and one I hold near and dear to my heart.
With all the love and light of the world.
xoxo
